Linemen & Workers Union highlights demands

JAMMU, Sept 8: A meeting of the All J&K Electric Department Linemen and Workers Union was held here today under the chairmanship of   Suresh Chand Anthal,  president of the Union, for highlighting various demands  of the employees.
In the meeting an appeal was made to the State Government for implementation of the SRO 149 of 1973,  dated 07.04.1973 in respect of  all the employees of the Electrical
Department. The Union threatened that in case the same is not implemented in full,  the aggrieved employees would be forced to adopt agitational path.
The Union members also appealed the Government to regularize  all the daily wagers who have completed seven  continuous years in service of  the Department on the same pattern as has been done in  other departments. They  demanded that necessary instruction should be made to   the concerned higher authority of the Department for conduct of the DPC,  which has not taken place since long. “Most of the employees are going to retire and thus a great injustice will be  done with them in their promotion prospects by not conducting the DPC in time,” they  explained.
The Union also appealed  the Government to give concession to the domestic Electric Supply consumers of 50 to 100 units and  implementation  of the Government order No. 328-PDD of 2011 dated 24.11.2011 in letter and sprit  wherein grant of ex-gratia relief to departmental and non departmental persons suffering due to electric related accidents,  has been ordered.
