JAMMU, Sept 8:  Senior vice president of  PCC and former minister, Sham Lal Sharma today demanded declaration of  State holiday on Maharaja’s Hari Singh’s  birthday and lambasted BJP for not taking up the issue properly.
While addressing meeting of  Block Congress Committee at Akhnoor today, Sham Lal said that of late the laws particularly State Subject Law are being highly appreciated by all political parties. They also projected that  Maharaja Hari Singh was very good administrator and most of the rules and regulations framed during his regime, are being followed in the State, but they have remained silent on according honour to the Maharaja. He further said that though the public holiday is observed on the Birthday of Lt Sheikh Abdullah but no holiday is being observed on the Birthday of  Dogra ruler of the State. He  said that a resolution was passed in the Upper House of State Legislative Council for observing holiday on Maharaja’s  Birthday, but the Government has failed to implement same thereby hurting sentiments of people of  the State and particularly Jammu region.  He alleged that BJP has already surrendered before Kashmir centric leaders and has no courage to raise a voice in the government for the issue.
He also said that presently Kashmir centric leaders commend the role of Maharaja for introducing state subject law (Art 35A) due to their vested interest but in the past these leaders have never ever complimented the Maharaja for his effective governance. The BJP who are considering themselves so called champions of Jammu have miserably failed in raking up the issues of Jammu   and is not able to implement the resolution.
Taking a dig at BJP, he expressed his serious concern about the partial attitude of various institutions of the State. He said that PSC is indulging in grave violation of the rules and regulations with a view to help the candidates of Kashmir region thereby depriving the deserving Jammu candidates of their dues. Jammu youth are facing grave injustice for the last three years.
