Lawyers continue to suspend work

UDHAMPUR, Dec 10: The work in the District Court and all other sub-ordinate/ Periphery courts of District Udhampur, remained suspended for the 40th consecutive day in support of J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu on the issue of transfer of registration powers from Judiciary to Revenue Department.

Members of District Bar Association Udhampur today sat on hunger strike in the premises of District and Sessions Court Udhampur on similar pattern as of J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu.
The Advocates, who sat on hunger strike today, included J D Slathia (President); Pawan Handa (Secretary); Ajay Singh Wazir (Treasurer); G R Khajuria; Choudhary Mohd Shaft; Swatantra Dev Kotwal; Surinder Khajuria; Amit Sharma; Yog Raj; Abhay Raina; Tarun Kalsotra; Harsh Tharmatt and Mukesh Sharma.
While addressing the gathering, Advocate J D Slathia, President District Bar Association Udhampur, urged the UT Government to redress the grievance of public in general and Advocates in particular who are suffering due to ongoing strike . He also warned not to provoke the Lawyers of Jammu province to intensify their agitation which can lead to the law and order problem.
