JAMMU, Feb 9: Katra Action Committee comprising businessmen and prominent citizens of the holy town today gave 48 hours bandh call in protest against the sealing of illegally constructed structures.
Reports said that Committee, in its meeting held here this afternoon, unanimously decided to observe complete bandh in the town during next 48 hours to lodge protest over the sealing operation launched by the district administration.
“Initially, the hotels, lodges and guest houses will be exempted from the bandh call in order to avoid inconvenience to the pilgrims”, reports said, adding “in case the Action Committee fails to receive any positive response from the Government regarding carrying out timely amendment in the Municipal Laws even the hotels and lodges would be brought under the purview of agitation”.
“We hope Government will take serious note of the situation and timely table amendment bill in the Budget Session beginning tomorrow failing which Government would be responsible for the inconvenience to the pilgrims”, some of the Action Committee members said.
