MARH, Feb 9: Reaffirming the commitment of the Government to provide all basic needs to the people, the Minister for Planning, Labour and Employment Ajay Sadhotra today said that the development plans being implemented will transform the socio economic status of the people, adding the formation of new administrative units will go a long way to ensure proper and equitable development of all parts of the State.
The Minister was addressing public meetings at Makwal and Akalpur villages in Marh constituency today.
Sadhotra said that the decision of creating new administrative units was aimed to address the difficulties of the people who had to travel long distances for getting redressal of their matters, particularly pertaining to revenue. He said the decision will also ensure proper implementation of the development projects in those areas where these units have been created.
Describing holding of Panchayat elections in the State as a historical decision of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Sadhotra said that the decision was aimed to give people chance to take their development decision at their own. He said it is the duty of the public representatives to serve the people and come up to their expectation, who have elected them. “Our doors are open for public, who want to get redressal of the collective problems of their locality”, said the Minister and assured people of every help in fulfilling their development needs.
The Minister said that equitable development of all the three regions of the State has always remained high on the agenda of the National Conference, adding the people of all the regions are supporting it because of the public friendly programmes and policies adopted by the party.
“Nation’s prosperity is when farmer, labourer, youth and destitute sections of the society are happy” said the Minister, adding that service to people will remain top priority of the party. He appealed people to work for strengthening the party in the best interest of the people of the State.
Sarpanchs and Panchs of Makwal and Akalpur highlighted the demands which including up-gradation of roads, repairs of lanes and drains, installation of new electric transformers, erecting of electric poles, supply of drinking water. The Minister assured them that all genuine demands of people would be addressed in phased a manner.
