Katra hoteliers call on Addl Chief Secretary Industries & Commerce

JAMMU, Sept 6: A joint delegation of Federation of Hotels, Restaurants, Industries & Commerce of Jammu Region and Hotel & Restaurant Association, Katra met Financial Commissioner/ Additional Chief Secretary Industries & Commerce Department, J&K Vivek Bhardwaj and apprised him of the issues pertaining to business sector and hotel and service sector in particular.
The delegation was comprising of President Rakesh Wazir and Sr.Vice President FHRICJR & President Patnitop Hotels Association Kushal Magotra Rakesh Wazir said that since hotels are being registered and covered by Industries Department, the practice of un-necessary registration with Tourism Department should be dispensed with. The Department of tourism should concentrate on its energy in promotion of tourism only as being done in various other States, he added.
Maintaining that Katra and around, including Patnitop, Shiv Khori, etc have huge potential to attract private viable investment and need of the hour is to encourage the investors.
Kushal Magotra, while speaking on the occasion, said that all industrial benefits need to be extended to Hotel Sector as well.
Wazir, while concluding, said that Industrial Parks around Katra which have already been identified, be started at the earliest and more are required to be explored with open usage (except non polluting ) products particularly related to Vaishnodevi pilgrimage, Ayurved and products whose raw material is available around Katra like Chyavanprash, Packed Vaishnodevi Prasads, dry fruits, local pickles, Masalas, packed honey, Vaishnodevi Patkas, Jute bags, Vaishnodevi Chunries, Vaishnodevi photographs etc be made.
Bhardwaj listened to the delegation patiently and assured that every effort would be made to redress the issues raised in the meeting at the earliest.
