JAMMU, Mar 15: J&K Tourism Development Corpora-tion (JKTDC) will organize ‘Navreh 2018’, a two-day Kashmiri Pandit food festival in Jammu City from today.
This was disclosed today by Vice Chairman (VC), JKTDC, Rafi Ahmed Mir, during a pre-event press conference at TRC Jammu. He said that aim of organizing this festival is to give a novel experience of Kashmiri traditional cuisine to Jammuites and to tourists. “JKTDC is keen to promote culture and regional diversity of Jammu and Kashmir within as well as outside the State”, he added.
Briefing about two-day festival, Managing Director (MD), JKTDC, Sarmad Hafeez, said that the festival is being organized by JKTDC to bring the taste of Kashmiri Pandit cuisine and culture to Jammu. He said that the festival will start on March 16 and will conclude on March 17.
The MD JKTDC said that it has been an endeavor of the Corporation to promote and present the culture and cuisines of the State to people of other regions, states. “We are organizing the ‘NAVREH 2018’ after a long span of 28 years to promote this festival and to introduce the local populace of Jammu region to this cuisine and culture”, he added.
He said that the Corporation is keen to promote tourism industry in the State by conducting ethnic food festivals from time to time. “The essence of conducting these food festivals is to attract all especially young generation to know about our cultural ethos as well as richness in variety of cuisine in J&K”, he added.
The MD further revealed that the management of the Corporation also desired to organize a Kashmiri Pandit Food Festival at Srinagar on the occasion of Mata Kheer Bhawani Mela in the May-June and Ladakhi Food Festival.
