JAMMU, Mar 15: Former minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today said that growing opposition and resentment against BJP is out in open in Jammu region with every passing day as the party, which had promised to further the interests of the province, is being accused of giving up on everything it stood for.
While interacting with people of Gandhi Nagar constituency today Bhalla said that people from Nowshera in Rajouri district to Lakhanpur of Kathua district, are on the boil on different issues but the agitators are unanimous in targeting the BJP for, what they allege, betraying the people after getting power.
Controversial decisions taken during the review meeting of the Tribal Affairs Ministry have further added fuel to the already surcharged atmosphere against the BJP in Jammu region. It was a failure of party ministers that people’s anger was growing against the BJP. “Now, the situation is going out of control and agitators, be it in Nowshera, Kalakote, Sunderbani, Akhnoor, Jammu, Samba or Kathua, are targeting only the BJP,” party was rapidly losing its ground in Jammu region from where it had won 25 Assembly seats in 2014.
Residents of Nowshera, Kalakote, Sunderabani and Akhnoor are agitating for district status while the residents of Jammu district are up in arms against the decisions taken by the Tribal Affairs Ministry. People in Samba and Kathua, where the BJP had won all the Assembly seats, are agitating against the alleged atrocities committed by the Crime Branch of the J&K Police in the name of investigation in the minor’s murder case of Hiranagar.
“The borders have seen worst ever tension and casualties, while the internal situation in Kashmir has witnessed the worst kinds of violence. Situation of borders continues to be grim while increasing number of youth have joined militancy during this period,” he said.
Bhalla said that the misrule and mis-governance of PDP-BJP had caused great resentment and anger amongst the people of all three regions of the State and they were totally fed up of from the present dispensation. He said the State Government and especially the BJP has totally failed on all the fronts.
He said BJP stood exposed as it has totally surrendered at the cost of aspirations of the people of Jammu region.
