JAMMU, Aug 25: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) has demanded early implementation of recommendations of Joint Parliamentary Committee (PJC) on Home Affairs for payment of Rs. 30 lakh ex-gratia to each PoK displaced family of 1947.
Apart from this JKSAC also demanded compensation to the displaced families for the left-out property in PoK.
In a meeting here Gurdev Singh, JKSAC president along with Netar Parkash, Santosh Kumar Sharma and Dwarka Nath Khajuria discussed the registration of claim for their moveable and immoveable properties left in PoK and its compensation thereof since their migration.
Speakers in the meeting claimed that in 2013, GoI constituted JPC on Home Affairs under the chairmanship of Venkaiah Naidu, now Vice President of India and afterwards by P. Bhattacharya, senior MP Congress.
“After having detailed deliberation with representatives of erstwhile J&K Government and Ministry of Home Affairs of India, the Committee strongly recommended that Rs 30 lakh ex-gratia should be provided immediately to the displaced persons besides other components,” they said.
“The representatives of erstwhile J&K Government agreed to prepare the package accordingly and approved it and later on a package of Rs. 25 lakh to each displaced family was drafted and after approval of the Govt it was submitted to Ministry of Home Affairs on 20-10-2014 to release the funds but unfortunately the same was returned back to State Govt on 7-11-2014 with certain queries which was never cleared by the govt till date,” they further said.
JKSAC has appealed to Lt. Governor, Manoj K. Sinha to take the issue on priority and to redraft the proposal for Rs 30 lakh besides other components, as per recommendation of JPC on Home Affairs and submit the same to the Ministry of Home Affairs to deliver the long awaited justice to DPs of 1947 from PoK.
