Sunderbani road network in deplorable condition: Sharma

JAMMU, Aug 25: Former MLC and Chief Spokesperson JKPCC, Ravinder Sharma has expressed concern over the deplorable condition of various road networks besides neglect of developmental projects in Sunderbani area of Rajouri district.
Sharma, who conducted an extensive tour of several parts of Sunderbani noticed bad conditions of different roads due to the neglect and non-maintenance during the past six years.
“Only selected few roads were repaired but most internal roads are in highly deplorable condition,” he said in a handout and alleged that several vital projects sanctioned in the area during previous Government due his personal initiatives were languishing and delayed due to non-availability of funds.
Sharma informed that quality check of various road projects should be undertaken and the culprits should be booked as there are complaints of poor quality works and people have raised their grievance.
“Lot of corruption was involved in allocation and execution of development works and other schemes by the Panchayat Raj system in the absence of independent ombudsman for PRIs,” the Congress leader claimed.
He said that Panchayat units at village level should be strengthened and money should be directly transferred to them instead of other institutions.
He said that previous Congress Coalition Governments have done tremendous works and got sanctioned several projects in the area including creation of administrative units at door steps like tehsils, BDO blocks and Niabats at various places and other major facilities like Degree College, up-gradation of hospital, sub centers and other such facilities in the area.
“However not a single major project has been sanctioned for area during the BJP led regime in the past six years,” he claimed.
