JKPM to hold elections for President

SRINAGAR, Aug 25: After Shah Faesal said good-bye to the politics and resigned from the newly formed J&K People’s Movement (JKPM), the party today said that it is going to hold the elections for the post of the party President on August 28.
“Upon the quitting of politics by Dr Shah Faesal and Javid Mustafa Mir, the posts of President and Chairman remained vacant. As a result of which the elections to the President is inevitable so that the affairs of the party could be run smoothly,” JKPM said.
It said that the party got divided into two factions and the only hope for its unity is fair election of the President. The two teams nominated by the two factions in August this year.
“The factions agreed to go for an election of the President to be elected by the previous honourable members of the Executive Committee nominated by the former President of the party after it was launched last year.
Any previous member from amongst the Executive Committee is eligible to contest the election of the President subject to the condition that his name is proposed by one executive member and seconded by another person.
Date of filing of nominations papers has been set August 26 2020, Scrutiny of Nomination Paper’s will be carried out on August 27 2020 and the election are going to be on August 28 2020 at 11 am.
