JAMMU, Feb 27: The J&K Branch of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) organized a Seminar on ‘Union Budget 2020’ and ‘Vivad Se Vishwas’ scheme.
Mona Singh, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, (J&K) was the chief guest on the occasion. S K Sharma and Rakesh Gupta, Additional Commissioner(s) of Income Tax along with various officials of Income Tax Department were present on the occasion.
Eminent speaker, CA (Dr) Girish Ahuja was the guest speaker on the occasion. Dr Ahuja discussed section wise amendments in Union Budget 2020 and also gave a detailed insight on recently announced ‘Vivad Se Vishwas’ scheme.
“Taxpayers whose appeals are pending before the various appellate forums as on 31-01-2020 and whose time limit for filing of appeals has not yet expired can avail the benefit of this scheme by paying the tax amount only and get waiver of interest and penalty,” he added.
Mona Singh, PCIT J&K, hoped that briefing given by Girish Ahuja will enrich the knowledge of officers of Income Tax department. She also urged the Chartered accountants to advise their clients to take the benefit of ‘Vivad Se Vishwas’ scheme.
Additional Commissioners of Income Tax, S K Sharma and Rakesh Kumar also addressed the gathering.
CA Shalay Razdan, Chairman of the branch, delivered the inaugural address and CA Nakul Saraf, Secretary of the Branch conducted the proceedings while CA Lalit Kumar Gupta, Vice-Chairman of the branch presented the formal vote of thanks.
Treasurer of the branch CA Vinay Jamwal and JKCASA- Chairman CA Arvind Dev Jamwal along with number of Chartered Accountants were also present at the occasion.
Later, ICAI J&K Branch elected its new team of office bearers of Managing Committee for the term 2020-21. The new team comprises of CA Lalit Kumar Gupta (Chairman), CA Vinay Jamwal (Vice-Chairman), CA Nakul Saraf (Secretary cum Treasurer), CA Arvind Dev Jamwal (Chairman of J&K Chartered Accountants Students Association) and CA Shalay Razdan as Executive Committee member.
