JAMMU, Oct 23: Induction programme for freshly enrolled learners of various programmes was organized at the regular Learner Support Centre of IGNOU 1285, Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar, Jammu today in which around 100 learners participated.
Around 400 learners of different programmes have opted for this Centre for the recently concluded July 2019 admission session. The Coordinator of the Centre, Dr Mohinder Pal, Assistant Coordinators and other staff members were present on the occasion. Dr Sandeep Gupta, Assistant Regional Director (ARD), IGNOU Regional Centre, Jammu was the resource person.
For the July 2019 session, IGNOU is offering only “General Bachelors Degree programmes under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) with the disciplines like Anthropology, Economics, History, Political Science, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology, Mathematics, Hindi, Urdu, English and Sanskrit.
Dr Sandeep Gupta apprised the scholars about various academic activities of IGNOU to be carried out during the course of their respective programmes in detail. He informed that the Choice Based Credit System provides the learners with flexibility to study the subjects at their own pace; greater choice of interdisciplinary, intra-disciplinary and skill-based courses; and mobility to different institutions for studies.
He also informed about various advantages of the CBCS where learners can undertake as many credits as they can cope with; without repeating all courses in a given semester if she/he fails in one/more courses.
