IGNOU organizes Alumni Meet

JAMMU, Oct 24: Indira Gandhi National Open University, in association with IGNOU Campus Placement Cell, New Delhi, organized an Alumni Meet to reconnect IGNOU learners with the university to know their present contribution to the society and to the nation through acquired higher education from the university.
The alumni meeting through virtual mode pertained to IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu and IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar.
In the presidential address, IGNOU Vice Chancellor Prof Nageshwar Rao encouraged and motivated the IGNOU learners who have completed their degrees in different disciplines and streams. He said that IGNOU learners are our identity, brand ambassadors in the field and are really real stake holders of the University. “These learners are our glory and due to their presence, IGNOU got five star ranking in higher education institutions and NAAC Accreditation with A++ in imparting the higher education to the learners across the nation. IGNOU has a great contribution in achieving the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) of a country,” he added.
On this occasion, former Vice Chancellor of Orissa State Open University and present Regional Services Division Director, Dr Sri Kanth Mohapatra said IGNOU has created a platform to alumni association to reunite, reorganize and reconnecting the IGNOU learners for the purpose to get the valuable feedbacks for framing the policy matter to improve the quality of higher education particularly in Open Distance Learning mode.
He appreciated the collective efforts taken by Regional Centre Srinagar and Regional Centre Jammu to provide effective student support services. He appreciated the approach of Regional Centre Srinagar for enhancement in the enrollment ratio in particular in Masters Degree Programmes.
The Alumni who participated in the 8th alumni meet, included Prof J N Baliyan Head of Department Mass Communication Central University, Jammu (did PGDHE), Waseem Qadri Team Leader Payment System J&K Bank (did MCA), Bilal Ahmad Mudaw Project Manager J&K Bank (did MBA), Furhan Ahmad Data Processing Executive (did MCA, PGDHE), Ishtiyaq Nazir Malik Public Relation Officer (did MPA, MPS), Dr Jan Mohammad Asstt Professor, former IGNOU coordinator GDC Pulwama, Dr Khalil Asstt Professor, Parvaiz Ahmad Mir Lecturer Govt Medical College Baramulla (did MSO).
The Alumni association meet of Regional Centre Srinagar was presented by Regional Director Dr Kamlesh Meena.
