JAMMU, Jan 8: A seminar on ESI scheme was organized by Idea Cellular Ltd in collaboration with State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Jammu & Kashmir, here today.
Over 50 stakeholders representing employer companies, employees, Human Resources Executives as well as those of Idea attended the seminar.
Regional Director, ESIC Arvind Kumar underscored various salient and unique employee friendly features of the Scheme. He stated that few informatory advertisements are being periodically released in media to enable the insured employees and beneficiaries to avail of these facilities without hitches. He stated that several initiatives have been taken recently in consultation and cooperation with the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, Department of Labour & Employment, to improve the medical facility infrastructures in J&K such as establishment of ESI Dispensaries in Samba, Katra, and Udhampur in Jammu division and at Lassipora in Kashmir division besides two more ESI Hospitals – one at Ompora, Srinagar and another at Kathua-Samba area.
Sunil Kumar, Manager (HR), Idea Cellular, Jammu & Kashmir Region shared the anecdotes of his companies employees having availed treatment seamlessly under ESI Scheme which included cashless treatment of an employee’s dependant father involving lakhs of rupees and pension having been granted to dependant parents of an employee in case of his unfortunate death in accident while on duty.
Earlier, Sunil K Mehto, Deputy Director, ESIC explained various provisions of Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948 relating to contributions and consequences in defaults on compliance with the provisions of the Act.
Sindo Ram, Deputy Director, ESIC gave an overview of all the benefits available to covered insured employees like full medical care, cash compensations during sickness or maternity of employees and benefits available to dependants of the employees dying in harness due to employment injuries.
