KVK organises 7th Scientific Advisory Committee meet

RAJOURI, Jan 8: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) under Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) orgainsed 7th Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting under the chairmanship of Dr KS Risam Director Extension SKUAST Jammu.
Dr Vikas Tandon, Programme Coordinator KVK presented the welcome address and appraised the house that SAC meeting is a biannual activity wherein the action plan is streamlined as well as the progress made is viewed by the members.
He made the power point presentation of the progress report of the year 2013-14 and also proposed the action plan for the year 2014-15.
Discussions were held among scientists and participants with respect to finalizing the action plan for the next year.
Dr KS Risam, Director Extension SKUAST-J made critical evaluation of the progress being made by the KVK. He stressed upon the cluster approach in executing KVK activities so that the impact can be visualized. He stressed that KVK must be more visible through its activities.
He emphasized that one village in almost each block may be identified where all efforts of KVK must be incorporated to get some measurable impact.
Dr AK Sharma, Associate Director Research gave valuable suggestions of incorporating latest varieties in demonstrations of the KVK.
DAO, Extension Vinod Ganjoo and District Horticulture Officer Mohammad Iqbal Malik, District officers from Animal Husbandry and Sheep Husbandry also expressed their views.
Dr Rakesh Sharma, SMS, Agricultural Extension presented vote of thanks, whereas Dr Punit Choudhary, SMS Agro-Forestry conducted the proceedings of the meeting.
