Hort officers educate farmers on high density plantation

AKHNOOR, May 22: The farmers of Khour Sub Division of Jammu district were educated on high density fruit plants by the senior Horticulture officer during an awareness program the other day.
The team of officers led by Joint Director Horticulture (JDH), CL Sharma, during extensive visit of Samwan, Narayana, Chak Malal and Khour interacted with the farmers and educated them on high density fruits plantation and its benefits.
Sharma elaborated in detail about the incentives available under the various Centrally and State sponsored schemes of the department and urged them to come forward, associate with the Horticulture department to adopt cluster approach for high density plantation in an atleast one thousand kanal area, so that irrigation facility for the orchard on 100% subsidy can be provided on community basis.
He also urged the farmers to avail the benefits on different components viz, bore well, Geo-tanks, drip irrigation, custom hiring centres, Aloevera plantation, vermin-compost unit etc for upliftment of their socio- economic status of the farmers. HDO Khour Amit Saraf briefed the Jt Director about the ongoing works and potential of the area.
Sharma was accompanied by BDC chairperson Khour, Balbir Singh along with Sarpanches of various Panchayats. He also visited newly established orchards of compact high density plantation in an areas of 60 kanals and 130 Kanals at Samwan, Narayana, Chack Malal and Khour.
