JAMMU, Mar 1: Member of Parliament, (Rajya Sabha), Shamsher Singh Manhas today said Guru Ravidas batted for peace and prosperity amongst the society. While speaking on the occasion of birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas here at Ravidas Sabha Paloura where a grand function was organised by the Ravidas Sabha members to commemorate the birthday celebrations of the great saint, he said the saints and sages have given the message of peace and brotherhood.
During the function various other prominent persons and social workers highlighted the work done of Guru Ravidas and urged upon the people to follow the path of peace for all round development of the society.
Manhas also highlighted the role of Ravidas Sabha which has been organising the programme every year in a grand way at Paloura wherein thousands of devotees visit Ravidas temple on this day.
He said “We must abolish the practice of untouchability, and should put an end to the differentiation on the basis of caste colour and creed which in turn creates a gap amongst the society and hurdles for it’s overall development,”.
He highlighted the role of Late Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir, Maharaja Hari Singh who tried to put an end to the social evils throughout his tenure.
