Gupta denounces continuance of Calendar Raj

JAMMU, Dec 17: The former Union Minister, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has denounced the exploiting of religious gatherings for political ends, and that too for generating violence and pains for peace loving people.
Expressing concern over the continuance of Calendar Raj of separatists in the Valley of Kashmir, Prof. Gupta observed that though the people are gradually coming out of the shackles of the perpetrators of stone pelters and various types of other threats but continuance of such a bigotry and extremism is itself dangerous for peace and tranquility. All this needed to be dealt with firmly especially when all this was being guided and handled at the dictates from across the border, he added and stressed the need for enforcement of the law of the land.
Prof. Gupta said it was unfortunate that the gatherings on the sacred days of prayers are being misused to generate violence and bloodshed. This is a strange politics as such days should be observed for seeking peace and prosperity. Instead of doing so on these occasions highly provocative slogans are raised and efforts are made to disturb the peace.
He asked the National Conference leader Dr. Farooq Abdullah that whether he still support such a kind of moves and encourages violence,  which is being opted to make the innocent people as their hostages.
Questioning the ranting for dialogue with Pakistan and other stakeholders in Kashmir, Prof. Gupta asked Dr. Farooq and his associates that why they failed to do so when they themselves were at the helms of affairs. At that time he and his colleagues had been talking about bombing the training centers of the ultras.
Moreover, he said that Valley alone is not the entire State of J&K.
Prof. Gupta maintained that there is need to make it clear to all concerned that J&K is an integral part of India and it would be preserved at all costs.  There is no scope for any secessionism.
