JAMMU, Dec 18: A deputation of Akhnoor residents called on Chief Engineer Sampark (GREF) and sought his attention towards the bad condition of Akhnoor-Jourian road.
The deputation highlighted the inconvenience and hindrance in their routine life due to bad condition of the road and demanded immediate repair of the same. The general public is suffering a lot due to the dusty and polluted atmosphere being created because of movement of vehicles on muddy and trenched road resulting into lungs, spinal cord and other allied problems, they told the Chief Engineer.
Because of the prevalent road condition, the employees and students of the area are worst sufferers, they said, adding that the journey from Akhnoor to Jourian, which should normally take 20 to 30 minutes, prolongs to 90 to 120 minutes.
Urging  the GREF authorities to execute  construction work of the road in 15 days, the delegation said that they would be left with no option other than to hold protest  demonstrations if their concern is not addressed.
The deputation comprised of BJP district president Daljit Singh Chib, president Jourian Bazar Vijay Sharma, president Chhamb Route Transporters Bharat Bhushan Sharma, president Matador Union Akhnoor Sanjeev Singh and others.
