JAMMU, Apr 23: The All Migrant Camp Coordination Committee (AMCCC) today accused both State and Central Governments for not being sincere in settling the long standing issues concerning the displaced Pandits from Valley who have been forced to flee by terrorists and separatists over 26 years back.
“Both State and Central Governments except making hollow claims about the return and rehabilitation of Pandits back in Valley with honour and dignity have failed to do any thing concrete on ground over the years with the result the problems of these hapless people are compounding day by day’’, Desh Rattan president, AMCCC told reporters here today.
Pandita said in view of the cold shouldered response of both the Governments towards these peace living nationalist people, AMCCC has decided to launch agitation in Union Capital and other parts of the country to highlight the plight of the community.
He said AMCCC held a protest demonstration in Union Capital recently to highlight the pending demands of the community and denial of monthly ration to the relief holders. Later the delegation met the officers in Ministry of Home Affairs and discussed the issue thread bare with them who assured that the ration will be released soon to migrants as per old scale and later the State Government issued an order in this regard, he added.
However Mr Rattan regretted that despite issuance of order on April 12 the ration has not been supplied to migrant camps and non cam localities till date which is a cause of concern.
He demanded rehabilitation of Pandits in their homeland with honour and dignity to fulfill the geo-political aspirations of the community, representation in State Legislature and Parliament, one Government job to every migrant family, release of balance ex-gratia, enhancement of cash relief on yearly basis, construction of damaged shrines and temples in Valley and establishing Panchayats in exile in camp and non camp localities. Besides, 70 percent concession to migrants living in rented accommodations on electricity charges, he added.
