JAMMU, Apr 2: Government has introduced declaration of vacations as per area-specific requirements.
According to the order issued by Commissioner Secretary, School Education Department, Shaleen Kabra, in order to check high dropout rates in certain zones/areas as well as low attendance during the specific periods of the year, due to migration or family’s pre-occupation with seasonal agricultural or other economic activities, it has been decided to introduce area-specific vacation in the State.
The vacation schedule for the year will continue to be notified by the Government as per practice in vogue. Modifications, however, will be allowed, on a zonal/cluster basis, after due consideration of all relevant factors subject to the stipulation that the total quantum of vacation days will remain the same so as to ensure working the national norms.
Such area specific vacations will be allowed only after due consultations with the Village Education Committees/School Management and Development Committees.
It is reiterated that such area-specific changes would be made only with the approval of the competent authority and will not be allowed to affect the commencement or conclusion of the annual academic session.
