SRINAGAR, Dec 18: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference chief spokesperson and In-charge Zadibal Constituency, Tanvir Sadiq today accused the incumbent administration of failing on every conceivable metric, saying every single citizen has had to pay a heavy price for the rampant mis-governance.
He made these comments while addressing a party meeting at Dhobi Gath Dargah in Fisherman Colony here today. Dozens of political and social activists belonging to different political parties joined the party fold on the occasion. Block president Mushtaq Baig, Block secretary Ghulam Rasool, Youth leader Shahid Kitab were also present in the meeting.
Tanvir said, “The government in New Delhi and Srinagar has been harping on bringing development and progress to Jammu and Kashmir. The situation on the ground however, is contrary to their claims. The state affairs with regards the basic utility services has gone from bad to worse, the government has even failed to ensure steady power and electricity supply to consumers. While the Kashmir is grappling with the worst ever power crisis, leading to 12 to 16 hour outages every day, the government continues to remain clueless. It is astonishing that despite assurances from authorities, the situation has not only failed to improve but has taken a turn for the worse, casting the region into prolonged darkness,” he said.
“They vowed to give jobs to every youth, to bring investment, provide administration comfort to ailing handicraft and tourism sectors. The rollout is missing on ground and the goalposts have moved. With another year without a democratically elected government nearing to an end, the government’s targets are nowhere in sight.”
Welcoming the new entrants into the party fold, Tanvir said that he was hopeful that the new joining will help strengthen the party on ground. He exhorted the party functionaries to enhance the ongoing public outreach programme.
