JAMMU, Nov 2: The executive body of India Yoga Association (IYA), J&K chapter has been formed for promotion and education of Yoga in J&K.
I D Soni (District Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guide) was unanimously declared as patron of J&K chapter – IYA while Dr Shreyansh Jain has been appointed as chairman, Dr Sudershan, Dr P S Pathania, Prabha Slathia and Dr D L Choudhary as vice chairmen, Bansi Lal as secretary, Arun Pachnanda as treasurer, Ashok Gupta, Raj Guru, Aditya Sharma, Subhash Gupta, Sudha Chander Sharma and Chander Mohan Sharma as joint secretaries, Anil Swaraj as information/parchar secretary, and Shiv Kumar Sharma, Dev Yog Raj, Abhinandan Jain, Lal Singh Nag, Kuldip Singh Jamwal, Sunita Gupta, Prem Gupta, Meenakshi Bhat and Gyat Nandan Jain as executive members of the society.
The aims and objectives for formation of J&K chapter body are promoting different Indian Yoga traditions in all districts of UT-J&K, to provide extensive research facilities for carrying out fundamental and clinical research in the discipline of Yoga and its applications keeping in view the socio-economic needs of all sections of the society, to hold conferences, seminars, workshops, camps and public meetings to propagate information and knowledge of Yoga, its various techniques and practice in all districts J&K.
IYA shall also offer accreditation and affiliation of Yoga Institutions, efforts to promote the wisdom of Ancient Yoga Texts and Granthas of Yoga to meet the challenges of the modern era, specifically Life style issues and stress management, to prescribe different courses for imparting Yoga education, training, therapy and research, besides certification of Yoga professionals and Yoga schools.
The first meeting of executive body of IYA J&K chapter was also held in Jammu today.
