Dynastic politics root cause of all ills in Kashmir: Vakil

Srinagar, Apr 22: President Jammu and Kashmir Bachao Tehreek and former Minister, Abdul Gani Vakil today reiterated that the dynastic politics was the root cause of all ills in Kashmir, saying that the menace of corruption, favouritism, hardships and miseries faced by people of the State are all because of this family rule that has left J&K in a State of suffering.
Addressing a party function at Sikandarpora in Beerwah Budgam, Vakil said that the dynastic politics, whether Abdullah’s or the Mufti’s- both have always preferred power by sacrificing the sentiments of people, which is the main reason as to why the Kashmir issue seems unending.
He said until people uproot these two political dynasties, the oppression and brutality will continue on the common people and there will be no light at the end of the tunnel till these two parties are not rooted out of Kashmir politics.
Jammu and Kashmir Bachao Tehreek has come to the front with a sole motive to get rid of this family rule of both Sheikhs and Muftis, Vakil said that they needed the support and cooperation of people to take this “movement against dynastic politics” to its logical conclusion.
“Only then Kashmir will prosper and all outstanding issues will get resolved,” he added.
While addressing the gathering Vakil said dialogue is only way forward to resolve all the issues and violence won’t yield anything.
Vakil also called for an end to the State’s policy of using brute force against people saying that such power tactics to incite fear among people won’t help to restore peace. He demanded that the govt should release all those people who have been arrested in the recent protests and rallies demanding justice for the Kathua rape victim and severe punishment to the accused rapists and murderers.
During the function, a resolution was passed in which the decision of the Union Cabinet that approved an ordinance to allow courts to pronounce the death penalty to those convicted of raping children up to 12 years of age. But, Vakil appealed the State Government to adopt the law without any delay so that no girl becomes another victimin the State.
Youth Secretary Jammu Kashmir Bachao Tehreek, Rizwan Illahi also spoke on the occasion.
