UDHAMPUR, Nov 13: The first ‘Jan Aushadhi’ shop in Jammu Division established at District Hospital Udhampur, where quality and generic medicines will be available at affordable price was opened today.
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Shantmanu inaugurated the shop.
While speaking on the occasion, the Divisional Commiss-ioner said that unbranded versions of generic medicines would be sold at the store for the benefit of patients who have been paying high rates for branded products of same chemical composition. He also apprised that such shops would be opened in all district hospitals of the division soon. He expected that newly-opened Generic Drug Shop would get good response from the public also.
On the occasion, the District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal apprised that it is the first generic drug store in the division which was open today. She advised the doctors to prescribe generic drugs which would be supplied through the new ‘Jan Aushadhi’ centre.
The General Secretary IRCS, Roma Wani apprised that the counter is being managed by the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) under the overall supervision of Hospital Superintendent. She said at present the counter has over 160 types of generic medicines for common ailments.
Among others, SSP, Anil Magotra, Chief Medical Officer, Dr Arun Sharma, District Hospital Superintendent, Dr. Chander Parkash, Secretary Red Cross, Udhampur, Dr. V.P Sharma, Members of Red Cross Society and staff of hospital were present on the occasion.
