DD completes 60 glorious yrs; Javadekar releases postal stamp

NEW DELHI, Sept 16: Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar on Monday released a postal stamp to commemorate 60 years of Doordarshan and said its news is “accurate, with no sensationalism involved”.
Addressing the 60th Foundation Day celebration of Doordarshan, Mr Javadekar highlighted the various achievements of the public broadcaster and also presented DD Annual Awards 2019 on the occasion.
Mr Javadekar said the public broadcaster’s main achievement “is providing accurate and fast news with no sensationalism” in today’s world.
The event was graced by the presence of Bollywood megastar Amitab Bachchan where several cultural programmes were organised.
Doordarshan Director General Supriya Sahu also elaborated upon Doordarshan’s achievements in the last few years.
Doordarshan is one of India’s largest broadcasting organisations in terms of studio and transmitter infrastructure, having been established on 15 September 1959. (UNI)
