JAMMU, Sept 16: Jammu Athletes Club (JAC) flagged off motorcycle expedition on Harley Davidson motorcycles from Jammu to Kanyakumari supporting the cause “Say No to Drugs and Say Yes to Sports”.
One of the riders Utpal Kumar Dass Gupta said, “We are supporting the cause Say No to Drugs Yes to Sports, One Ride One India. Riding is a sport which almost all of us have indulged in mostly out of necessity. The next level comes from the passion for riding whether for competition or fitness or for the sheer thrill of getting to a new place and to imbibe the environment at close quarters”.
He added that long distance motorcycling takes this thrill and excitement to a different level.
“Passing through the country, interacting with the locals, eating local food at roadside dhabas, the feeling of which is difficult to put to words”, he said, adding that cross country motorcycling on Harley Davidson is a different plane- zipping across the landscape at superlative speeds, the looks of fascination greets you at every point whether during overtaking or whether at a stop.
“At the personal level I saw the first picture of a Harley Davidson motorcycle in 1977, as a 17 year old. Hoping someday I will own one. The hope turned to reality in 2017 when I owned my first Harley after 40 years of hope at the age of 57. Am trying to catch up on those 40 years with a message- if you can dream then you can hope and if you can hope then you can achieve”, Dass stated.
It is pertinent to mention here that JAC is already spreading the same message “Say No to Drugs and Yes to Sports” from the last one year and that’s the only reason JAC has supported this expedition as they have the same cause.
Members of Himalayan Chapter India thanked the JAC Core Group Members for motivating, sparing their valuable time and encouraging them for their ride from Jammu to Kanyakumari.
Members of JAC who were present on the occasion were Gaurav Gupta, Vikram Gupta, Prabhat Singh, Indu Jamwal, Ajmer Singh, Rajesh Padha, Rajinder Gupta, Surinder Choudhary, Sham Suri, Dr Akshay Gupta, Jai Sharma and Naresh Sharma.
