JAMMU, June 3: District Congress Committee (DCC) Jammu Urban has criticised the authorities for the acute shortage of ration, water and power supply in Jammu areas.
A meeting of DCC Jammu Urban was held here today at PCC headquarters Shaheedi Chowk, Jammu under the presidentship of Anil Chopra in which various problems of people were highlighted. The DCC members took stock of the progress on the ongoing membership drive of the party.
Speaking on the occasion Mr Chopra said that there is acute shortage of ration at all the Government ration depots in Jammu city and the general public, especially the poor are facing great hardships on this score. They have been compelled to purchase ration from the open market on higher rates. The prices of essential commodities like pluses and vegetables are sky rocketing. There are long scheduled and unscheduled cuts in the electric power supply and shortage of drinking water in many localities of the city. He said that present Coalition Government is non-serious to the problems of people and the general public is facing great hardships.
Congress leader criticized the BJP-PDP Government for cruel joke with the farmers by providing them relief in the shape of cheque worth Rs 32, 47, 94 and 113. He condemned this act of the Government and warned the Govt to get ready to face the wrath of furious farmers. Mr Chopra asked the Government to immediately make available adequate quantity of ration at the ration depots of the city and it should also be ensured that rations depots remain open for at least six hours of a day and black marketing of ration should be checked effectively.
