DB’s directive to DC Poonch on landmine victims

JAMMU, Nov 19: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking compensation for LoC mine blast victims, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Tashi Rabstan today directed Deputy Commissioner Poonch to file complete information.
After hearing Advocate Deepika Singh Rajawat for the PIL whereas AAG Ravinder Sharma for the State and ASGI KK Pangotra for the Union of India, DB directed Union of India to file reply before the next date of hearing disclosing when the last meeting dealing with the grant of ex-gratia compensation for landmine victims was held and how many persons have so far been given the benefits.
“The reply filed by the Deputy Commissioner Poonch shows that ex-gratia compensation has been paid to some persons but the same is incomplete”, the DB said and directed him to place on record complete information by disclosing the names of the victims and those who have been paid compensation.
