JAMMU, Nov 23: In a contempt petition filed by Secretaries of Chief Justice and Judges, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Tashi Rabstan today directed the Chief Secretary to appear in person tomorrow.
The Division Bench had earlier held the Secretaries of Chief Justice and Judges entitled to grades equivalent to KAS officer. However, this judgment was not implemented by the State.
This prompted the Secretaries of the Chief Justice and Judges to file contempt petition and on the previous date the DB had directed the Chief Secretary to file compliance report or appear in person.
After going through the contempt petition and hearing Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi with Advocate Ankesh Chandel appearing for the petitioners whereas Senior AAG Seema Shekhar appearing for the State, the DB observed, “neither compliance report has been filed nor Chief Secretary is present in the court”.
Accordingly, DB directed Chief Secretary to appear in person tomorrow.
