JAMMU, Mar 27: In a contempt petition filed by Rashpal Singh and others, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Sindhu Sharma today directed Chief Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control Department Jammu to remove all encroachments along and on the nullah in exercise of powers under Section 83 of the Jammu and Kashmir Water Resources (Regulation and Management) Act, 2010.
After hearing Advocate DS Parihar for the applicant whereas Deputy AG KDS Kotwal for the State, DB further directed that status report indicating the steps taken shall be filed within four weeks from today.
SSP Jammu was also directed to provide adequate police protection to the staff of the Chief Engineer, I&FC Department, Jammu to ensure the implementation of the order.
