Complaint by sexual harassment victim

JAMMU, July 10: In a complaint filed by sexual harassment victim, Sub-Judge Jammu Pawan Kumar Sharma has directed Dr S P Vaid, Transport Commissioner, Swaran Singh, Assistant Transport Commissioner, Rachna Sharma, ARTO Udhampur, Rehana Tabassun, ARTI Flying Squad Jammu and Roopali Sharma , Legal Assistant to appear in the court on next date of hearing.
After hearing Advocate AK Sawhney appearing for the victim, court observed, “this is a complaint under the Sexual Harassment of Women on Work Place Act. The complainant claims that she is working in Motor Vehicle Department where one of his colleague Chander Mohan Gupta, who is Motor Vehicle Inspector, has sexually harassed her”.
“The complainant has sought action against the accused/respondents under Section 26 for contravening the provisions of the Act. The complainant claims that the accused has not formed the committees as provided under the Act and hence prayed for penalty against the accused”, the court further observed.
