Congress demands compensation for victims of heavy rainfall

JAMMU, July 13: Congress Councillors of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today highlighted the plight of flash floods hit people in yesterday’s heavy rainfall.
Addressing a press conference here today chief whip of Congress in JMC, Dwarka Choudhary said many people suffered heavy losses as water from flooded drains and Nallahs entered their houses yesterday.
They claimed that poor working of JMC has resulted in all these losses and added that JMC has failed to timely and properly de-silt the drains and Nallahs of Jammu which led flash floods yesterday.
Talking to reporters Chowdhary demanded compensation for people who suffered losses.
“The JMC Mayor should call a general house meeting at the earliest and should allocate funds to each Ward equally and timely,” he maintained.
Other Councillors present in the press conference were Bhanu Mahajan, Rajinder Jamwal, Gaurav Chopra, Pritam Singh, Sanjeev Panda and Sobat Ali.
