JAMMU, July 13: Despite tall claims by the Government, first monsoon rain exposed poor drainage system in Jammu city as the rainfall yesterday caused severe water logging in the city resulting in immense inconveniences to the commuters.
This was stated by former Minister and senior Congress leader, Raman Bhalla after visiting Nanak Nagar and Last Morh area of Gandhi Nagar.
He was told that several roads, by-lanes of Nanak Nagar were under water causing immense hardships to the public and the problem was compounded by defunct drainage system in various areas.
Bhalla said that monsoon rains wreaked havoc in Nanak Nagar area damaging houses, boundary walls, uprooting roads etc.
“Water-logging took place in many residential colonies of Jammu including Green Belt Park, Gandhi Nagar, several sectors of Nanak Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, Digiana, Udham Singh Nagar, Gangyal, Krishna Nagar, Rajinder Nagar, Kabir Colony etc,” he claimed.
The Congress leader slammed tall claims of development by the BJP government.
He claimed that Jammu Municipal Corporation lacks men and machinery which led to such a situation.
“Despite having a master plan for Jammu city in hand since long, there seems lack of interest in government to implement it. Not even a single meeting of different agencies has so far been convened in this context,” he said.
S. Sonu Singh, Vijay Chib, Raju Katyal, Kaka Vipin, Viju and others also accompanied Bhalla.
