Has celebration of the co-operative week in the state led to any success ? It has on the contrary failed. It was just a joke with the farmers of the Jammu division. The co-operative movement has lost its purpose and effect.
There are directions from the Honb’le court that there should be fresh elections in the cooperatives but those sitting in the board are not implementing the directions. There is need of CBI enquiries in the irregularities and embezzlements in the cooperatives. Those societies which have been shut and closed down must be reopened so that the farmers get benefited. Cooperatives are meant to provide agricultural implements, tools, credit and above all marketing facilities but in reality there seems to be concern only for the rich and the wealthy. The government should come out with the causes of the sickness of the movement of co-operatives and set it right like all other states of the country.
