CEC visits Silmoo Batalik, takes stock of people’s demands

KARGIL, June 11: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan, who is also the Councillor of Silmoo Batalik Constituency, conducted an extensive visit of the area to take stock of the developmental needs, issues and grievances of the people.
The CEC was accompanied by the Executive Engineer Kargil Development Authority (KDA), engineers of KDA and PWD besides other concerned officers.
During the course of the tour, the CEC interacted with the PRI members including Sarpanchs and Panchs of Lalung, Silmoo, Darchiks Garkone, Chulichan, Batalik, Sharchay, Sanachay, Hordass and other villages and inquired from them about their developmental needs and other related issues.
The PRI members at Lalung, Silmoo, Lakha and Batalik projected their demands before the CEC which mainly included the repair of khul and water reservoir tank and solar power plant at Lalung, construction of link road from Spangstod to Grongstod, compound walling for Medical Aid Center, restoration of damaged khul at Rgyapaq Lungba, establishment of Navodaya Vidyalaya and J&K Board examination centres at Higher Secondary School Silmoo and High School Lalung, provision of shamiyanas for community usage, levelling of burial grounds, provision of transformer and electric poles at Batalik, reactivation of pipeline connections and other related demands.
Similarly, Sarpanchs and Panchs of Hordass, Sanachay, Holdar, Gargardo, Chulichan, Darchiks and Garkone submitted their demands which included construction of link road at Garkone Lungba and Shoray, release of land compensation at Gargardo, provision of shamiyanas, repair and reactivation of water supply connection at Shoray Garkone, up gradation of Middle School Chulichan to High School and construction of breast wall around the school premises, construction of footpaths at Dass, protection bund at Sirbar, construction of footpaths and khuls from Barith to Thari, Gonsar and Atha, construction of footpath from Chulichan to Sharchay, repair and blacktopping of link road, repair of khul and construction of footpath at Sanachay, construction of khuls and foot bridges and provision of mobile tower at Sharchay and other related demands.
The CEC patiently listened to all demands and issues projected by the PRI members in case of every village and said that adequate funds have been allocated and various schemes have been approved under the Annual Capex Budget 2020-2021 and Special Development Package (SDP) as per the developmental needs and requirements projected by people.
He said that issues related to road connectivity and water will be addressed in a phased manner while as issues related to mobile towers have almost been resolved.
Feroz Khan said that in order to give impetus to tourism and sports related activities in the area, a picnic spot and ice hockey rink at Lalung, Sindhu Gate at Garkone and a multipurpose hall cum indoor stadium at Darchiks Garkone have been approved under Capex Budget while as the blacktopping of Hambotingla Road will be completed by the end of August this year for which the matter has already been taken up with the BRO authorities.
Earlier, CEC visited the site for establishment of picnic spot Lalung and Tourist Dak Bungalow constructed by KDA at Silmoo.
CEC Khan also took stock of the pace of progress on the alternate road stretch constructed by BRO on the sunny side at Hambotingla where the officers concerned informed him that road base work has already been completed while as soling and black topping works are expected to be completed in the next one and a half months.
