BJP disregarding aspirations of J&K people: Ashok Bhagat

JAMMU, Mar 13: Senior Congress leader Ashok Bhagat today expressed utter disappointment over BJP Govt’s failure to address burning issues of J&K by turning a blind eye towards the apprehensions and concerns of people of J&K, especially Jammu region.
While speaking at a function organized in connection with distribution of blankets among needy families of Marh constituency on Sunday, Bhagat said Govt lacks approach which is based on consistency, clarity, conviction and creating only mess making people to suffer unnecessarily without any fault of theirs.
Bhagat said that the alarming unemployment, price rise of essential commodities, large scale disinvestment of public sector units, attack on social security system like pension, amendment in Labour laws in favour of corporate, outsourcing, unbundling of Govt departments in a massive way with the abolition of permanent post has caused large scale resentment among the employees/ workers in almost all sectors. It has exerted huge burden put on the working people by way of GST and withdrawal of subsidy on essential items of livelihood are causing immeasurable suffering on the people.
Bhagat expressed concern over the repeated attempts of disempowering the people of J&K by coming up with atrocious measures one after the other. “First, the state was bifurcated and its status degraded as a Union Territory and thereafter the exercise for the delimitation was undertaken having serious lacunas. The BJP Government at the Centre has not done any work in the public interest in J&K. The double engine Government of the BJP has harassed every section of society and has not done anything itself but has been appearing in advertisements claiming the works of the Congress Party as its own.
He accused BJP of disregarding the aspirations of the people of J&K. He said that the ruling party had failed to inspire millions of the new UT. There is zero focus on development, the infrastructure is dying out and people are being denied basic civil amenities like power and water. He said BJP government is weakening the rural economy and hereditary trades and playing havoc with the farm sector, only to hand over agricultural sector to the Corporate sector.
Bhagat strongly flayed the UT Administration and BJP for the indifferent attitude towards the daily wagers, need based and other casual workers and demanded immediate framing and implementation of regularization policy for them.
Senior members Ashwani Sharma, Suresh Chander, Uttam Lal, Shamsher Singh and Vinod Kumarwere also present on the occasion.
