JAMMU, Mar 14: To express their resentment against the deletion of names in voter lists the BJP activists held protest demonstrations against the election authorties in Jammu West and Raipur Domana Assembly segments today.
The Party activists protesting at Raipur Domana led by district president Omi Khajuria blocked the Akhnoor road for sometime and later they lifted the blockade on the pursuance of SHO, Domana Rajeshwar Singh. They also torched the copies of voter lists in protest.
The BJP activists of Jammu West district held massive protest against the election authorities for wrongful inclusion and exclusions of name in the voter lists. It was led by Jammu West district president Ayodhya Gupta.
Ayodhya Gupta, while speaking about the protest, said that it is most unfortunate that the party activists have to come on roads against the election authorities in the State as the current voter lists have lot of discrepancies which are going to create problems and deprive the genuine voters from exercise their constitutional rights as and when elections are held.
Ayodhaya Gupta said that there is wide spread anger and resentment against the department as the lists don’t have the names of even those voters who had been voting since decades. Not only this, many names have been entered as incorrect and many families are not finding the names of their members in these lists. He asked the election authorities to immediately take effective steps to sought out the discrepancies.
Puneet Gupta, Vinod Gupta, Sanjeev Sharma, Prem Gupta, Kuldeep Mangotra, Jaideep Samyal, Dineshwar Sharma, Pardeep Sharma and others took part in the protest.
At Dream City Muthi the protest was led under the leadership of district president Omi Khajuria and district displaced president T.N. Bhat.
The rally was to protest for the electoral rolls which have been issued by the concerned authorities. The protestors besides blocking the Akhnoor road also torched the voter lists.
These fresh voter lists are totally incomplete in all respects.
In the year 2012 there were 3900 votes in Ward 61 which could increase to 5000 by now but in voter list only 2500 voters exist.
Similarly in this Ward 62 there were 3200 while the number has decreased to 1260.
Same is this positing in wars 64 the number was 4400 while this fresh list comprises of 1260.
Ward No. 65 had 4100 while the number has come to 1900.
Keeping in view the above facts, the voters were impelled by the authorities to come on this streets’ due to injustice to them.
The leaders warned the concerned authorities to register all the voters and release the fresh electoral so that the residents of the above constituencies can vote without any tuff process.
The prominent among the leaders were Mukesh Sharma, Sheela Handoo ex corporator, Bharat Bhushan Goswami, Pawan Salaria, Babu Ram, , AK Pandita, Kuldeep Singh, Vijay Rana, ML Bhat, PL Sudeshi and Veena Grain.
