JAMMU, Oct 7: Senior BJP leader and MLA Bishnah, Ashwani Kumar Sharma visited border areas in Arnia and interacted with people there who were affected by shelling from across the border.
The MLA, while expressing his serious concern over cease fire violations by Pakistan, said that Indian forces have also given a befitting reply to enemy. He made it clear that Central Government led by Narendra Modi will not look as a mute spectator to the shelling by Pakistan on civilian areas and Indian forces are also retaliating with full might.
He asked Pakistan to desist from ceasefire violations otherwise it has to pay a heavy price for the same. Sharma assured the border people that he will not leave any stone unturned in seeking justice for them and take up the issue with higher ups in Union Government also.
He demanded that the people who lost their lives in border firing be given Rs five lakh as ex-gratia instead of Rs one lakh. Besides, adequate compensation be given to the injured, dead cattle and for damaged houses, he added.
Sharma demanded that border people be allotted five to ten marlas of land in secure places where they can shift during the border tension and also can shift their cattle etc. He said the Government should give a serious thought to this issue and take a quick decision as people living in border belt have been facing this problem continuously since 1947.
