NEW DELHI, Aug 26: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that abrogation of Article 370 is going to benefit Hindus, Muslims and all other communities equally, as well as also the weaker sections including scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and women. He denounced the vested elements which were trying to create a communal divide on the issue.
Giving his assessment after he was briefed by BJP National President Minority Morcha, Abdul Rasheed Ansari about the latter’s recent visit to Kashmir Valley and interaction with local people there, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the enormous benefits accruing from the revocation of Article 370 will begin to show results just within a few months and, every region and every section of society regardless of religion or caste, is going to realize the positive outcomes and advantages.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, those trying to create a negative perception are the ones who have, over the last several decades, benefited through the isolation of the people living in Kashmir Valley by creating a phobia in the name of “special status”, only to ensure their own predominance, from generation to generation.
Free flow of economy, Dr Jitendra Singh said, will benefit all the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, where enormous potentials of natural resources, agriculture and horticulture have remained under-utilized. This, he said, will in turn boost the economy and business of the local businessmen and traders as well, contrary to a negative perception sought to be created by certain self-centered elements. As for the Kashmir Valley, he said, the rich art, craft and embroidery will be able to realize its true market value on a wider scale, instead of remaining confined to a limited value assessment.
In the new arrangement after 31st October, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the Kashmir Valley, in particular, may have an edge over other regions because of relatively high number of serving government and retired employees from this region. All the families which are dependent for their sustenance and livelihood on government emoluments, he said, will suddenly find themselves rising to the next higher social strata of economy, when they start getting added benefits like health and medical treatment cover for the entire family at par with the Centre, House Rent Allowance as per the UT parameters, regular LTC, etc.
