UDHAMPUR, Jan 6: Continuing its drive against smuggling of narcotics and psychotropic substances, Police party of Police Station Udhampur today apprehended a drug peddler and seized 55 kg of poppy straw from his possession.
Based on a specific information, Police naka team of PS Udhampur, led by Insp Vijay Singh Choudhary, SHO PS Udhampur alongwith Mohd Saleem Executive Magistrate, Udhampur, stopped one truck bearing Registration Number PB 23T 3485 for checking at Jakhani naka point, NHW, Udhampur.
During search, 55 kg of poppy straw was recovered from the truck. Police arrested the driver namely Jasbir Singh alias Kala, son of Sansar Singh of village Mana, Tehsil R S Pura, A/P Jalandhar.
Police also seized the recovered poppy straw as well as the truck and registered a case, FIR NO. 12/2021 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act, in this connection at PS Udhampur and further investigation is underway.
