5 thieves arrested, stolen property worth lakhs recovered

KISHTWAR, Sept 5: Police arrested five thieves and recovered stolen property worth lakhs from their possession.
As per police sources, several complaints were received at Police Station Kishtwar that a gang of burglars targeted religious places of Kishtwar district where they pretend to be devotees but carry out their evil designs by stealing the money from the donation boxes of religious places.
Acting over the complaints, a case under FIR Number 209/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kishtwar and investigation taken-up.
To work out the case, SSP Kishtwar Shafqat Hussain Batt directed the Incharge CCTV Kishtwar and Incharge Cyber Cell DPO for tracking down all such activities through CCTV cameras. Accordingly some suspicious persons were found roaming in Kishtwar town and the team so constituted by putting hectic and strenuous efforts by utilizing both technical and scientific aids, zeroed in some suspects and resultantly succeeded in identifying the accused involved in series of burglary incident and subsequently their arrest was effected in one go, so that chances of escape and destruction of evidences can be avoided.
After thorough questioning of the accused, the team finally succeeded in making break-through and were able to nab a five members group of organized notorious burglars.
The arrested persons were identified as Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din, son of Fojadar Sheikh of Bacchidarwaza Srinagar, Skinder Ahmed, son of Fojadar Sheikh of Parimpura Srinagar, Rubeena Begum, wife of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din of Bacchidarwaza Srinagar, Gudi, wife of Skinder Ahmed of Parimpura Srinagar and Saleema Begum, wife of Nazir Ahmed Sheikh of Parimpura Srinagar.
On their disclosure, stolen property worth lakhs including cash amounting to Rs 53805 has been recovered from the arrested persons. A vehicle bearing registration number JK01AJ-8941 used in the commission of crime has also been seized in the instant case.
Further investigation into the case is going on and more arrests and recoveries are expected in near future.
SSP Kishtwar said that the whole town is under CCTV cameras coverage and the activities whatsoever going on are being minutely monitored 24×7 by specialise team constituted at CCTV cameras surveillance unit of Kishtwar Police. This gang of thieves was also arrested with the help of CCTV cameras footage, he added.
