JAMMU, May 9: Satwari Police today rescued 12 bovine animals and arrested two smugglers from the area of the winter capital.
Police spokesman said that, on specific information, police party from Satwari police station led by Probationer DySP Shabir Ahmed Khan and SI Sandeep Charak laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JKO2H-2565 at Satwari.
During checking, police recovered twelve bovine animals and arrested the smugglers, who were identified as driver Ashok Kumar, son of Mool Chand of Kirpind and Showket Ali, son of Yaqoob of Maralian, RS Pura.
A case under FIR number 68/13 has been registered at Satwari police station and investigation was started.
Meanwhile, Satwari police also arrested two absconders, who were evading their arrest for the past sometime.
The absconders were identified as Mukesh Kumar alias Sonu, son of Isher Dass and Iqbal Singh alias Vicky, son of Ranjeet Singh, both residents of Ward No 1, Bhour camp.
