RAJOURI, May 10: Minister for CAPD & Tribal Affairs, Ch Zulfkar Ali laid foundation stone of new model village at Kanthol Marhuta of block Buddal (Kotranka) in Rajouri district to be developed at an estimated cost of Rs.1.11 crore by Rural Development Department.
After laying the foundation, Zulfkar said that faster development of backward and hilly areas was on top priority of the development agenda of the Government. He said that up gradation of road network, education, power, PHE and Health sector have been given top priority by the Government.
Director Rural Development Jammu, G N Balwan, Director CAPD Jammu, G S Chib, Additional Development Commissioner, Rajouri and senior officers of CAPD, Power, PHE, Education, R&B were also present on the occasion.
He said that the developmental activities initiated by the Government have changed the socio-economic profile of the people of the state especially those living in hilly and far flung areas. He also stressed the need to develop trust and maintain coordination among PRIs and local administration for speedy development and better delivery of Government schemes on the ground. He directed the concerned officers to take into confidence the local representatives while formulating new schemes, projects and other development programmes to ensure need based development.
Earlier, the people as well as sarpanch and panchs of the areas put forth various demands like up-gradation of school, better road network, new PHE schemes, developed ration depot, power supply, and BPL ration cards.
Responding to needs and demands of locals, Zulfkar said that Government is conscious of the difficulties of the people of these backward and hilly areas. He said these areas are now given focused attention and many special schemes and development projects have been devised to match their requirements and needs.
Zulfkar sought cooperation and support from the people in the efforts of the Government. He said all such special projects and programmes on completion would benefit local populace.
Highlighting the role of various flagship schemes under rural development in alleviating poverty and changing rural land scape in the state, Zulfkar said that people should come forward to avail maximum benefit from these schemes so that they can get empowered both socially and economically.
