RAJOURI, June 4: Minister for Consumer Affairs, Public Distribution Department and Legal Metrology Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today cautioned people against divisive forces, adding that they are biggest roadblocks in development of the State.
“The people must judge the politicians on their work and should isolate those who try to divide the people for their vested interest”, the Minister said while addressing a gathering at Jamola Rajouri after laying foundation stone of Rs 7 crore Jamola Kha Road.
Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said that divisive politics has ruined the society and people should expose such elements for the overall development of the area.
Reiterating his commitment to develop Darhal as model constituency, Zulfkar Ali said that the area would witness massive development in coming days.
“Over Rs 300 crore development projects have been taken up in the constituency just in one year”, he said and referred to dream projects like Kotranka Khawas Road and Anas Irrigation Canal project costing Rs 76 crore and Rs 93 crore respectively. He said that Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is committed to equitable development of all the regions with special focus on the areas which faced negelct in the past.
Terming NFSA as pro poor act, Zulfkar said that some elements are misleading people by projecting the scheme in wrong perspective. He said 61 lakh people have been added in the priority list, who will get ration on BPL rates of Rs 2 and Rs 3 per kg.
For bringing transparency in the department, Minister said that various steps have been taken up to curb black marketing and pilferage of ration. He said that the department is soon going to install Point of Sale machines which will recognise a consumer on fingerprints and minimize the chance of black marketing.
The Minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Shabir Batt, Director CAPD Jammu GS Chib, SE PWD Abdul Majid Wani, SE Hydraulic Circle Rafiq Chowdhary, District officers of all Departments.
