Youth’s body recovered from river bank

POONCH, May 28: The dead body of 22-year-old youth, hailing from Surankote  area was recovered from the river bank near Poonch this morning.
The deceased was later identified as Mohd Rameez, son of Mohd Farooq, resident of Shaillan, in Tehil Surankote. His bike was also found parked at some distance from his dead body.

A local noticed the dead body of youth ata round 10 am and informed police. A police party from Poonch Police Station, arrived at the spot. The police recovered a syringe and some drugs from his pocket. After examining spot, the dead body was shifted to district hospital, Poonch.
A senior police officer quoting a doctor said that apparent cause of death seemed to be over dose of drugs. The police also inquired about the past habits of the youth from relatives and friends  and found that drug-addiction was the apparent cause of death.
The police said that a few months back, another youth was found dead due to over dose of drugs in Shanker Mohalla, Poonch. The local public has demanded launching of special campaign against drug menace in Peer Panchal region  involving Police, Administration and College/ School authorities. They said that many youth are being ruined with the increasing drug menace  in Rajouri-Poonch districts and there is urgent need to start awareness campaign in colleges and schools. The local NGOs  should also come forward, they maintained.
