Led by J&K Youth president, Uday Bhanu Chib, the Youth Congress activists assembled near Congress Party headquarters and raised slogans against the BJP Government at the Centre. They were carrying banners and placards in hands and staging protest by maintaining social distancing and following Covid guidelines.
Talking to reporters later, Chib said that in the new recruitment rules notified on June 4, 2020, the J&K UT administration has incorporated SRO-202 clauses which are not only obsolete but brazenly, unconstitutional in nature. The five-year probation instead of two years, with denial of increments is, totally against the right to equality enjoyed by all other citizens across the country, except for the residents of J&K.
PYC president mentioned that the Chief Secretary J&K had framed a committee on February 27, 2020 to review SRO- 202 but nothing has come out as yet. He asserted that SRO- 202 was formulated by the previous elected Government under the Constitution of erstwhile State of J&K, which presently stands revoked. The Government of India can not have double standards for residents of J&K while the citizens in all other States enjoy equal rights under the Constitution of the country. This contradiction needs to be alleviated, sooner the better,” Chib demanded.
Terming some local J&K BJP leaders acting as ‘puppets’ in others hands, Chib said that during the Sarore toll plaza row J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina had also taken up the matter with the Union Minister for Surface Transport, Nitin Gadkari about establishment of toll plazas in Jammu region but nothing has been come out from this drama. He said BJP has got massive mandate from Jammu region during 2014 and 2019 elections but it (BJP) has been miserably failed to do justice with the people of Jammu region.
Chib said that a common man who finds it difficult to provide two times meal per day due to COVID-19 pandemic, are finding it difficult to pay such tolls. The Government should find another way for collection of its revenue. He said that with the establishment of Toll Plazas at Lakhanpur and near Akhnoor, BJP itself has betrayed the mandate of Jammu region. He said earlier the BJP former minister has dismantle the Toll Plaza installed at Sarore terming it injustice with the people of Jammu, but now how they will justify this move.
Ricky Dalotra, Nimrandeep Singh, Latish Sharma, Varinder Singh, Ashwani Singh and others also joined.
