NEW DELHI, June 26: Newly recruited civil servants can now do yoga while undergoing training at Mussoorie-based Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA).
“There is one hour time slot available for the probationers in the academy for physical exercise. Some prefer to do gym or other such things. Now Yoga has also been made available to them as an option. It is voluntary for them to take part in it,” Union Minister Jitendra Singh said today.
“From time to time yoga experts are invited through the Department of AYUSH for the benefit of trainees and probationers. However, Yoga is not at all compulsory or mandatory for the trainee officers,” said Singh, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
There are about 180 trainee officers of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) undergoing training at the academy.
The Centre had recently celebrated second International Yoga Day across the country.
