YJKL holds protest; torches effigy of Director Colleges

JAMMU, July 6: Youth of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh (YJKL), today held a protest demonstration against Higher Education Department for not remitting the amount taken from the candidates, by misguiding them on the name of entrance examination for the post of contractual lecturers.
The activists of YJKL led by its vice chairman Raman Sharma and general secretary Rahul Vaid assembled at the main gate of the Government Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College and raised slogans against Higher Education Department. Demanding enquiry into the corrupt practices prevailing in the department, they torched the effigy of Director Colleges.
Addressing the gathering, Rahul Vaid, general secretary, YJKL, said that Higher Education Department earlier notified that there would be entrance examination for the post of contractual lecturers and for the same they had collected Rs 200 each from nearly 4,000 candidates.
Vaid added that later on they declared that there will be no entrance examination and the contractual lecturers will be selected on the merit basis. “Almost 4000 candidate have applied and Higher Education Department collected about Rs 6-8 lack rupees from these candidates”, Vaid said.
He demanded repayment of Rs 200 to every candidate, who had applied for the post of contractual lecturers, besides, punishment to those involved in this episode.
Among others who spoke were Deepak Sharma, Satish Sharma, Babar Ali, Manjot Singh and Sunny Sangotra.
